Manhattan Solo Recital Series
For eligible instrumentalists and vocalists in the annual program: professionally organized solo recitals in Manhattan across the cycle. Each recital is developed as an independent artistic event—concept, repertoire, program order, venue, rehearsal, program notes, and performance-day operations.
Recitals need not repeat the same format. They may demonstrate development, explore contrasting repertoire, or introduce a collaborative element.

AYA Youth in Collaboration
Across instruments, voice, and dance. Placement is based on artistic compatibility, preparation, scheduling, and the needs of each project.
Duos, trios, and small ensembles
Strings, winds, brass, and piano in repertoire chosen for the players at hand.
Small combos & guest artists
Work with rhythm-section players and established artists of the AYA community.
Singers with pianists & instrumentalists
Art song, aria, and concert repertoire prepared with collaborative partners.
Live music with movement
Dancers with musicians and singers, on stage or on film.
Collaborations are formed around the artists in a given cycle. A young pianist may be paired with a singer for a set of songs; a string player with an established chamber musician; a dancer with a live instrumentalist. Each is rehearsed and produced to the same standard as a solo recital.
Projects bridging music, movement & text
Interdisciplinary salons and stage or filmed projects bring together musicians, singers, dancers, and established artists in shared performance settings—each treated as part of a larger artistic journey, not an isolated appearance.
A salon may place a poem beside the song that set it, a dance beside the score that shaped it, or a young composer’s work beside the players who premiere it. The format is chosen for the artists and the material, never the reverse.
International & cultural exchange
International youth collaborations, cross-cultural programming, and special events connected to cultural or diplomatic themes—opportunities to engage with different traditions, communities, and artistic perspectives across borders.
Exchange projects are developed with partner institutions and cultural organizations, and are open to young artists in the annual program according to fit, readiness, and scheduling.
The rhythm of an annual cycle
Dates and venues are confirmed with each accepted artist and family. Public performance listings are published as they are confirmed.
Applications & artistic review
Applications are read on a rolling basis. Selected applicants may be invited to a conversation or callback.
Artistic planning
Repertoire, goals, schedule, and formats—agreed with the artist, family, and teacher.
Recital or presentation
A principal milestone of the cycle, produced with printed program, rehearsal, and run-of-show.
Collaboration, mentorship, enrichment
Where appropriate: a collaborative performance, masterclass, artist talk, workshop, or special project.
Culminating recital or presentation
The cycle may culminate in a further recital or presentation reflecting continued development.
